Centralize Password Standards

Passwordstate enables organizations to centrally define password policies that can be reused throughout the environment. Rather than configuring password requirements individually, administrators can apply standardized policies across users, Password Lists and teams.

Passwordstate supports three complementary policy types:

• Password Strength Policies
• Password Generator Policies
• Password List Templates

Password Strength Policies

Password Strength Policies define the requirements that passwords must satisfy. Administrators can create different policies for different systems, account types and operational requirements.

• Length requirements: Define minimum and maximum password lengths.
• Character requirements: Specify uppercase, lowercase, numeric and symbol requirements.
• Pattern restrictions: Restrict dictionary words, repeated characters or sequential patterns.
• Reusable policies: Apply appropriate strength requirements across multiple Password Lists.

Password Generator Policies

Password Generator Policies define how Passwordstate generates random passwords. These policies can be configured to produce passwords that comply with the requirements of different systems and Password Strength Policies.

• Standardize password generation: Create reusable generation rules for different credential types.
• Control character composition: Configure length, character sets and other generation requirements.
• Support different systems: Create separate policies for applications, devices, service accounts and privileged credentials.
• Reduce manual password creation: Allow users and automated processes to generate passwords according to approved organizational rules.

Password List Templates

Password List Templates allow administrators to standardize the configuration of Password Lists throughout the environment. Templates can define common settings and permissions, helping reduce repetitive administration and configuration differences between lists.

• Link a Password List to a template: Govern supported Password List settings through an associated template.
• Apply template settings: Copy configuration from a template when creating or editing a Password List.
• Apply template permissions: Copy predefined permissions to new or existing Password Lists.
• Review templates centrally: Allow administrators to view and manage templates created within the Passwordstate environment.

Apply Consistent Standards Across the Organization

Reusable policies help administrators avoid configuring password rules and Password List settings separately for every use case. Policies can be assigned where needed to support consistent controls across teams, systems and credential types.

When organizational requirements change, administrators can update centrally managed policies rather than relying on users to manually recreate the same configuration throughout the environment.
