De-Installation Instructions

Follow these steps to completely remove Passwordstate from your environment after completing an evaluation.

If you have completed your evaluation of Passwordstate and have decided to discontinue its use, please follow the structured steps below to ensure a complete and secure removal of the software from your environment.

Important
Before removing Passwordstate, ensure that any required backups of your database, configuration files, or auditing data have been completed. Deleting the database and associated components will permanently remove all stored credentials, configuration settings, and audit history.
Step 1

Uninstall the Passwordstate Software

  • Navigate to Add/Remove Programs (Windows Programs and Features).
  • Locate Passwordstate in the installed applications list and initiate the uninstallation process.
  • Upon completion, verify that the installation directory has been removed.
  • If remnants remain, manually delete the installation folder.
Step 2

Remove Database and Associated Accounts

  • Access Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Locate and delete the Passwordstate database.
  • Remove the passwordstate_user SQL account.
Step 3

Remove Web Server Components

  • Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
  • Delete the Self-Signed SSL Certificate that was installed during the initial setup of Passwordstate.
Step 4

Uninstall Browser Extensions (If Installed)

  • Google Chrome: Navigate to More Tools → Extensions.
  • Microsoft Edge: Navigate to More Tools → Extensions.
  • Firefox: Navigate to Settings → Extensions & Themes → Extensions.
  • Locate the Passwordstate Browser Extension and remove it.
Step 5

Uninstall Remote Session Launcher Utility (If Used)

If your organization has utilized the Passwordstate Client Based Remote Session Launcher Utility, uninstall it via Add/Remove Programs.
