KB: Upgrade Considerations Pre Build 9968

This KB Article is only relevant if you upgrading Passwordstate from a build older than 9968, and you also use the High Availability module.

As of build 9968, SQL Server 2012 Native Client is no longer required. Instead, Microsoft’s OLE DB 18 is used, and may have implications for customers with High Availability for SQL Server.

In your web.config files, if you have MultiSubnetFailover=Yes in your database connection string, this needs to be changed to MultiSubnetFailover=True.

If this setting is not changed, it will prevent you logging into Passwordstate, after upgrading from a build prior to 9968.

If you do not see your database connection string in the web.config file i.e. <add name="PasswordstateConnectionString"….. then it’s likely you have encrypted this file. To decrypt it, please follow the appropriate section of this guide - Decrypt Web.config File

The default path for your web.config file is c:\inetpub\passwordstate.
