Automatic Upgrade of HA Website can hang on copying new files

Recommended Posts

We've had a couple of customers report that when upgrading the HA server through our web interface, that the File Copy step can hang.  This can be caused by possible due to poor WAN links, or network throttling, or maybe even firewalls blocking the copy.

If you see this on your screen for more than 10 - 15 minutes:

Then you should follow these instructions to perform a manual upgrade of your HA server:

  1. On your HA Web Server, restart IIS to release any file locks you may have, and terminate and file copying that might be happening
  2. Follow these instructions for upgrading the HA server manually: https://www.clickstudios.com.au/downloads/version8/High_Availability_Server_Manual_Upgrade_Instructions.pdf
  3. On your primary server, you should find some files in a folder called c:\inetpub\passwordstate\upgrades\passwordstate\haupgrade.  Please copy the contents of that folder into the root c:\inetpub\passwordstate folder on your HA Server.  You may need to stop IIS the Passwordstate Service to perform this step, and restart them when you are finished
  4. You should confirm that the C:\inetpub\Passwordstate folder and all nested files has Modify Permissions for the Network Service account. (if you your Passwordstate application pools under a different identify than Network Service, you should ensure this account has Modify rights to the folder)
  5. Restart the Passwordstate Windows Service on your HA Server
  6. Wait 10 or so minutes for your HA node so show up in your UI with a green health icon, and it should report back the correct build.

If you still have issues, please contact support.

Kind Regards,

Support:)
