Paul Hackett
I am using the SA account for our SQL 2012 Server running setup from a Windows 2016 server. I have turned off the firewall. I am able to make a connection to the SQL server from my password state server and browse the databases. I get this error in the Database Creation Log Resolving host name of database server... Executing creation of temporary database... Login timeout expired A network-related or instance-specific error has occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. Server is not found or not accessible. Check if instance name is correct and if SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. For more information see SQL Server Books Online. support
Hi Paul, Could it be an SQL Instance name issue? Sometimes customers are not aware their SQL server has be installed with an instance name, or they have specified an instance name of MSSQLSERVER and you do not need to specify this with SQL Server Standard and above. Paul Hackett
That was it, the instance. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
