Passwordstate app

Hi,

do you have plans for creating an app for passwordstate which has more features than the mobile website?

It would be great if a real app would exist with the possibility to create new passwords and edit them.

Another awesome feature would be the offline availability of passwords.

Kind regards

Achim

Hi Achim,

At this stage we do not have any more plans, but thanks for your suggestion and we will consider this in a future release.

Offline access we do not have any plans for though, as it is unsafe to have distributed copies of this type of sensitive data.

Hi Hayden,

Thanks for your enquiry, but we do not have any plans on developing any native apps.

Are you aware that we do have a customized web site that is optimized for mobile phones - so it looks and behaves like a native app? If you were aware of this, but need additional functionality for it, please let us know what sort of functionality you need.

Sometimes basic users are so basic that they can't go over a 1-click access, they don't remember the URL. I've done a very easy 3rd level redirect but they are sooooooooo basic and isn't enough.

APP is more user friendly.

Just a recommendation but have you thought about having the users add it as a "homescreen app". That way it's always available via the 1-click so users don't have to remember the URL. The only thing they would need to do is type in the PIN.  Safer that way.

if a user is offline... say on a plane and has a need for a password to access something on their pc... an app would be the correct way to go... Web is only as good as your internet access.. if the app just downloaded and ecnrypted the pwd that user has access to it would reduce the risk.

We are exploring this option in Passwordstate 9.  We can't promise anything yet, but just wanted to let you know we are listening to you and we'll do our best to make this happen.

Having said that, our initial designs are the App will need to pull information from your Passwordstate API, so the end users will still need to enter a URL upon initial launch of the App. We don't see a way around this unfortunately.

We are hoping to store all data offline in the App/local encrypted database too.

+1 - Native App would be great - iOS example; Apple permits 3rd party password integration which means users can access passwords directly (after authentication of course - biometric or password) from other apps or websites - this makes using the passwords on mobile devices much easier.

We have Keeper at present that supports this (we're looking at moving to PasswordState) and it seems that giving users a mobile website is a big step backward in UX.

Looking forward to see your plans for v9.
